Tracy Primeau Indigenous Leadership + Environmental Advocacy + Empowering Women in STEM

“People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care”

Recipient of the Women of Distinction Award presented on IWD by the Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey, and the Canadian Nuclear Society Education and Communication Award in 2020, Tracy Primeau is shaping the energy sector of the future. Providing thought-provoking and open hearted approaches to navigating male-dominated industries, she inspires individuals to bring their authentic selves to the workplace and create a more inclusive world. In challenging audiences to think beyond the existing limitations of the energy industry, Tracy helps explore and expand the possibilities of what can be achieved with sustainable and renewable resources.

A proud member of the Nipissing First Nation, Tracy Primeau is a leader and mentor in the field of nuclear energy. Growing up with her family working in the sector, Tracy has gone from an operator in training to an authorized nuclear operator and manager with over 30 years of experience. Using the Seven Grandfather Teachings as a guide, Tracy brings big picture thinking to a sector in need of transformation. 

Serving as a mentor to women in the energy industry, Tracy believes in the capacity of diversity and inclusion to foster innovation and improvements in the field. Seeking to disrupt gender dynamics within male dominated spaces, Tracy leads by example through honouring and advocating for the unique and innate gifts women have to offer the world.

A founding member of the Ontario Hydro Native Circle, Tracy sits on the Board of Directors of Women in Nuclear Canada, is a Chair of the Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey Executive of the Kincardine Bulldogs Hockey Club and sits on two Municipality of Kincardine Council committees. An active member within her community, she works to implement innovative long-term solutions for the many systemic barriers experienced by Indigenous peoples. One of her visions is to see clean energy reach all parts of the world, particularly remote Indigenous communities in Canada.

Through her time at Bruce Power the company received a gold rating from the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Businesses in Aboriginal Relations and has been leading the world in developing lifesaving isotopes. Tracy’s perspectives will change the way you think about the possibilities for renewable energy.
