Kilma is also the recipient of the prestigious Soldier’s Medal for Valor, a successful commercial pilot who flies helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, and an award-winning leader in STEM/STEAM. Leading the way in Indigenous Data Sovereignty, Kilma is a futurist, enriching modern technologies by merging Indigenous knowledge, language, stories, and histories into Extended Realities and Immersive Technologies.
This visionary speaker proudly hails from the Pala Band of Missions Indian. As a child, he would never rewind his cassette tapes because he was always forward-looking. Breaking through barriers of poverty, Kilma pursued his dreams in aviation and STEM. He joined the U.S. Military in 2001, and a year later he earned dual Bachelor's Degrees in History and Communication (as a Social Science) from UC Santa Barbara. Kilma studied at Harvard and Johns Hopkins Universities, and received his MBA from the University of Southern California.
Kilma, a natural born leader, has spent much of his time involved in nation-building and overseeing the social and economic development of the sovereign tribal nation of Pala, demonstrating his determination for an inspiring future.
In 2008, while serving on his tribal council he started his own charter helicopter company. In 2020, Kilma made the transition to fixed-wing aircraft and worked his way up from a Private Pilot’s License to a Commercial Multi-Engine Fixed Wing license. He then spent a year as a First Officer with SkyWest Airlines as an Airline Transport Pilot, flying destinations around the United States.
Kilma sees the magic that happens when people come together to bring energy to a project. Further founding the Pala Veterans Organization, he produced the documentary Defending the Homeland, winning a regional Emmy Award in 2013. Kilma is a drive for good and has used his leadership skills to extend beyond the physical world.
His gifts now soar beyond borders and cross seas with OurWorlds.io.
