Randy Morin Storyteller + Author+ Language Keeper
Leading the Culture & Language Revolution
Randy Morin empowers audiences with stories and language as an educator, author, and English-Cree expert. He is a Cree language keeper and a traditional Indigenous Knowledge keeper. Randy works with Universities, teaching Indigenous Studies, and devoted to Indigenous language revitalization. Randy Morin is leading the culture and Language revolution by bringing traditional Indigenous language, knowledge, and perspectives into the 21st century.
A committed advocate of Indigenous language preservation, Randy Morin recognizes the infinite potential that words can carry to transcend the definitions found in a common dictionary. Born in Big River First Nation in Treaty 6 territory, Morin was well-known in his community for his imaginative mind and love for stories. Morin is a self-described seeker of knowledge who is passionate about using his gifts to teach others about the profound healing capacities that storytelling, language, and his Cree heritage have to offer the world and its future generations.
“nêhiyaw ôma kiya: nêhiyaw pimâtisi. Nêhiyawê!” (“You are Cree. Live Cree and be Cree!”) are the guiding words of Morin’s late grandmother that he proudly honours through his dedication to breaking cycles, teaching Indigenous youth, and restoring the Cree language. For Morin, the stories and traditions wrapped in language are vital to powerful and necessary experiences: of resilience, forgiveness, and vulnerability.
He believes: “There is always more room for growth, for more people to join this cultural, language revolution.”

In his quest to overcome self doubt and cultural barriers, Randy discovered the importance of self love and what adopting a positive outlook on life can do for the empowerment of all youth. During his presentation, he coaches youth through emotion management, health and wellness, and letting go of the belief systems and narratives found in reserve systems.Learning from this presentation includes:
