"Ancient Wisdom, Modern Solutions"

Recipient of the NSA’s New Zealand’s Master of Ceremonies of the Year and Inspirational Speaker of the Year awards, Ngahihi o te ra Bidois has transformed audiences internationally, bringing them empowering messages that transcend cultural boundaries. A Māori leader, entrepreneur and changemaker, he is “The Face of New Zealand” and is renowned for combining centuries of tradition with his extensive industry and business experience, to teach the power of ancient wisdom as modern solutions.

Ngahi (Na He) lives in Rotorua, Aotearoa (New Zealand), which is the Māori Cultural Tourist capital of the world. His full indigenous Māori name is Ngahihi o te ra and means "The Rays of the Sun," a name bestowed on him by Māori elders before he was born. Childhood experiences with tourists from all over the world provided Ngahi with an understanding of their cultures.

Ngahi brings an outstanding wealth of expertise to his international audiences—from managing a multinational oil company to running his own successful business, or heading the School of Māori Studies, Journalism, Fashion, Arts at the Waiariki Institute of Technology, to advocating for change within the New Zealand health system as an elected member of the Lake District Health Board. With a Master’s in Education, Ngahi’s academic career has also included lecturing at teachers' college and teaching accounting, economics and business studies.

During his dedicated studies and fast-tracking in business, Ngahi had come to a crossroads and was compelled to rekindle his Māori roots and learn the language. His subsequent journey to reclaim his language was paramount to a deeper understanding of many values embedded within the Māori culture—honour, leadership, respect, and courage—and himself as a Māori person.

For Ngahi, there is immense beauty, power, and perspectives carried in words and language; as language permeates throughout the community, so too does the possibility for transformational change in our societies.
