Recipient of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce’s 2021 Young Entrepreneur of the Year ABEX Award, Cody Demerais has inspired countless individuals with his triumphant story of recovery and renewal. A memorable and authentic storyteller, Demerais shares the defining moments of his early life and his journey to becoming an entrepreneurial changemaker, and a proud and active member of his Métis community. With his incredible perspectives on self transformation, Demerais empowers audiences to rewrite their histories and begin anew.
Born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, award-winning Métis entrepreneur Cody Demerais will be the first one to tell you his life was not always on the path that it has found now. Brought up by a single mother and a number of babysitters, Cody was met with many difficult circumstances, discovering his independence early on in his childhood as a result. He began working for the extras in life, helping to pay for his own sports and the clothes that he would wear on his back. One thing Cody has always been grateful for is the work ethic his upbringing has ingrained in him.
Yet, with all this independence, Cody was still left feeling alienated from the rest of the world and sought to find belonging. During this difficult period of his life, Cody became vulnerable to drug and alcohol abuse, and over the years would develop more serious substance abuse, mood, and mental health disorders. This extreme lifestyle led to an life altering car crash that involved both Cody and his best friend. The impact of PTSD, guilt, and anger from this traumatic event led Cody to try and take his own life.
In spite of his hardships, Cody is grateful for his experiences and where they have led him: meeting his beautiful fiancee, becoming a father, business owner, and an influential speaker who leads others away from their own dark paths. He proudly shares his journey of self transformation with a strong passion for mental health awareness, youth mentorship, and advocating against drunk driving. Today, Cody is the successful entrepreneur behind Limitless Gear Clothing, the Western Regional 2 Youth Representative for the Métis Nation—Saskatchewan, and a board director of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce and the Prince Albert Chamber of Commerce, where he will continue to be a changemaker and advocate for local businesses in his community.

In this moving session, Cody walks you through a significant life altering night that was the direct result of an evening out fueled by alcohol and wrong decisions. To this day, Cody and his best friend still count their blessings for surviving the impact of coming to a complete stop after traveling down the road at 116 km/h. Cody will take audiences through the difficult trials of this near-tragic event, and how the experience has transformed the way he views the world.
