Madelaine McCallum Resilience + Healing + Growth

“The Fire Within”

An actor, model, dancer, and choreographer with a powerful presence, Madelaine graces the stage with elegance. Taking her audiences through an extraordinary journey of transformation and healing, her performances have been received by the Métis Nation British Columbia, the Métis National Council, and landed her a spot at the opening ceremonies for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Winner of the Best Experimental Film category at the Festival du Film étudiant de Quebec (FFEQ), Madelaine has found a compelling way to share her life's journey through a diverse range of visual storytelling.

Madelaine’s journey began at the early age of 12, when she left the confines of her home community in Ile a la Crosse, Saskatchewan to break the unhealthy cycles of addiction, violence, and broken relationships she found herself in and surrounded by.

No matter the distances travelled, Madelaine’s innate connection to rhythm and nature closely followed. After a long period of reflection, she realized she had to follow the guidance that elders had offered her as a child, and explore her deep relationship with the universe through dance. Drawing upon the energy and spirit she felt through the music, she gained the strength to become unapologetically Madelaine and transform the outlook she had on her life.

Through mastering her gifts as a multidisciplinary artist, she has found a way to reshape the spaces around her in ways that were necessary for her to overcome the trauma in her life, including a recent battle with breast cancer. With these new perspectives, the invisible lines of connection we all share to each other and the environment became clear to Madelaine. Beginning her organic movement into the wellness industry, where she now uses her story and life experiences to help audiences change how they understand themselves and their past.

In spite of all the hardships in her adolescence, this kindred spirit emerged reborn and was aptly named Strong Earth Woman. She has had a successful career in providing education on suicide prevention, healthy relationships, and the benefits of traditional and modern medicines. With her story of survival, Madelaine shares with audiences the healing power of looking inward to find self-acceptance, forgiveness, and most importantly, “the fire within.”
